i miss you when you’re in another room
(for Tracey)

Danny Silva Soberano

i spend my body into a day trip moving furniture for a friend
you pick me up from her house
i drive the car back to yours
& i sit exhausted at the end of your bed
& still you search for me
     you say okay
you don’t have to do anything that you don’t want to but
     i miss you
     when you look away

…………… so here i am
i have spent the last 4 months
saving half of my weeks for you

& still i am surprised
when i learn that i forgot my favourite sweatpants
at your place

i finish work in my home office
& dream of the day i can walk from this room into another
& find you there
looking cute or not cute
i would just like for the opportunity
to become tired of your open face
the chances in the every day
to make love present & familiar
